Each year, Ecolab’s associates log thousands of volunteer hours, demonstrating that their commitment to protecting what’s vital extends beyond the workplace. 

This year, in recognition of Ecolab’s 100th anniversary, the company held a 100th Anniversary Global Weeks of Service event from 5-15 June to unite its global teams in a collective effort to give back. Throughout the initiative, more than 750 associates participated in 35 projects across 14 countries. 

“The Weeks of Service event highlights how much our associates care about making a 100-percent positive impact on people and the planet,” said Ecolab Chairman and CEO Christophe Beck. “It is just a small example of the great work our teams do throughout the year.” 

Much of the volunteerism focused on environmental stewardship — cleaning parks, beaches, waterways and other public spaces, and adding plants and trees. 

Ecolab teams in Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, for example, organized 10 separate trash-pickup walks in the region. More than 200 associates participated, picking up over 500 pounds of trash. They also planted 150 trees.

In Minnesota, associates spread out throughout the Twin Cities to pick up litter. They also weeded and mulched and prepped and planted garden beds, partnering with Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and the St. Paul Downtown Alliance on their projects. Our Naperville, Ill. team partnered with the Conservation Foundation to pick up garbage throughout a large park. 

Similar efforts took place in Indiana, New Jersey, Kenya, Mexico, Switzerland, the Philippines, Italy, Slovenia and elsewhere, showcasing our associates’ passion for improving the areas in which they work and live.

Year-to-date, Ecolab teams have participated in 170 volunteer projects, logging more than 12,000 hours across 31 countries.
