Collectors for Zinc, Nickel and Copper Sulfides

Collectors are a critical component for zinc, nickel and copper sulfides flotation. Selectivity, collecting power and pH compatibility all impact your outcome. You also need a partner with the right chemistry and proven experience—and Nalco Water has both. We have a proven track record in mineral processing, and our collectors have a range of benefits, including high selectivity and stability over a wide pH range, that help you achieve your desired recovery.

  • Reduce maintenance challenges such as float cell valve failures, and spend less time manually troubleshooting

Nalco Water Collectors for Copper, Zinc and Nickel

The NALFLOTE 100 series is a collector range used in the flotation of sulfide minerals at alkaline pH, particularly those associated with copper, molybdenum, gold and silver. These frothers exhibit improved selectivity against pyrite compared to commonly used xanthate collectors. These collectors are often used in combination with a secondary thiol collector in order to improve secondary metal recovery such as those associated with gold and silver. They are suitable xanthate replacements.

  • High selectivity against pyrite.
  • Collector for primary and secondary copper mineralogies, especially where molybdenum is recovered.
  • Exhibits good activity over a wide pH range.
  • Affinity for copper in Cu-Pb-Zn flotation.

These collectors are used to float copper sulfide minerals and precious metals in acidic to slightly alkaline circuits. They are often used as a secondary collector in Cu-Au flotation with the primary collector being a xanthate. With precious metals, they are effective at improving recovery and selectivity in acid and neutral pH circuits. With copper ores, they are designed to improve selectivity in alkaline circuits.

  • Increase molybdenum grade through improved selectivity.
  • Improve selectivity against pyrites and sulfide gangue minerals.
  • Improved precious metal recovery.
  • Lower dosage requirement compared to traditional sulfide collectors.

NALFLOTE™ C234

The NALFLOTE™ 300 series products have been successfully used for the flotation of molybdenite containing copper ores resulting in higher recoveries of molybdenite and improved subsequent copper molybdenite separations.  They also have utility in the flotation of native copper and copper sulfides at low alkalinities, recovery of copper in smelter slag milling and as a primary collector in PGM flotation.  This range of collectors also has proprietary blended formulations suitable for precious metals collection in copper ores and platinum group mineral ores. They offer high recovery of sulfide minerals associated with precious metals. They also offer high stability across a wide pH range. The collectors are insoluble in water and are often added to the grinding mill or pre-conditioning tank.

  • Improve molybdenum and copper recovery in copper/molybdenum ores.
  • Improved grade owing to high selectivity against pyrite.
  • High performance over a wide pH range.
  • High selectivity against pyrite.
  • Affinity towards copper and molybdenite.
  • Affinity towards precious metals in sulphide ores.

The NALFLOTE 400 series is a proprietary blend of thio esters designed for Cu, Cu-Mo and Cu-Au ores. The collectors are insoluble in water but are often added directly to the flotation cell because they have a fast reaction time. The collectors are extremely selective against pyrite compared to standard collectors such as xanthates.

  • Improve copper recovery.
  • Improve selectivity against pyrites and mineral sulfides.
  • Improve precious metal recovery.
  • Lower dosage requirement compared to traditional sulfide collectors.
  • Xanthate replacement.

NALFLOTE™ C412

The NALFLOTE 1000 Series is a proprietary range of products. These products are extremely selective against gangue sulfides and are used for sulfide copper mineral flotation in acid pH or difficult to treat sulfide ores containing copper, zinc and nickel in alkaline circuits when selectivity against pyrite is required. Due to the stability of these products, they are excellent collectors for low alkalinity sulfide flotation.

  • High selectivity against pyrite.
  • Collector for primary and secondary copper mineralogizes, especially where molybdenum is recovered.
  • Exhibits good activity over a wide pH range.
